The History Of Tel'Thranan

The history of Tel'Thranan is long and full of unique men and women, the library's of it's history are extensive and vast. The planet has been a monarchy for 6,000 years. It has seen it's share of war, times of peace. It has it's own blend of culture and tradition. The people are loyal to their monarch first and foremost. The Thranans, as they are normally called are human-like in appearance, similar to the Corellians. They are light-skinned and possess an intelligence unlike few humanoids in the Galaxy. They are valued for their physical strength as well as their scientific and financial acumen.

Throughout the millennia the Galaxy's scientific minds have been in awe of the different phenomena of the world. For instance from space, the planet has a blue hue, when in actuality it's just the sunlight reflecting off the planet's atmosphere.  Below the azure upper stratosphere is a lush green planet. There's 40% land, 60% water. The seas of the planet are the cleanest waters in the entire sector. The planet has three orbiting satellites, all rich in resources and each contain a breathable atmosphere. The planet has a rich abundance of minerals covering the surface of the planet and below the depths of it's oceans. It is a beautiful planet and the Thranans are extremely proud of their homeworld.  There are four continents.  Ekreska to the west, under Port Skyrain, Fillann to the Eastern section of the world, Comanca, where Commerce City is located as well as Arkaria and the ice-covered Birellia to the north. The planet has a current population of 15 billion sentients, 10 billion of which are Thranans.

The planet has been neutral throughout the Galactic civil war. The King of Tel'Thranan pays a hefty fee to both the Empire and the Rebel Alliance. But, to insure it's survival and remain neutral the planet also has a huge planetary shield that is invisible to sensors from orbit. This precaution keeps the planet safe as the planetary shield has a cloaking device that renders it invisible to any known scientific gadget. This has given the Emperor headaches and has no choice but to accept the bounty fee from the world's King. The arrangement works well for all three entities.  When people wish to land on the planet they must contact the Dakkan Guard's HQ for clearance and they send coordinates to the ships on where the shield is opened, the Dakkan's never shut the shield down completely.

The main metropolitan areas are Commerce City, Arkaria and Port Skyrain.

Commerce City has over 6,000,000,000 sentient beings in it alone. It resembles the many cities of Nar Shadda and the planet Coruscant. It is the financial hub of the planet. Here you'll fine the corps, merchants and normal folk interacting and living their lives as best they can. It's your typical large metropolis.

Arkaria's population is 4,500,000,000 people and is the city closest to the Royal Palace, just a twenty minute shuttle ride from the city. It has beautiful white buildings that cascade into the sky, much like the destroyed cities of Alderaan. The city is surrounded by thousands of miles of lush grasslands, perfect for farming. This is where most of the people get their food. The farmers produce an access that is exported throughout the Galaxy. Most of the men and women who work for the King live in Arkaria. But the King has separated his palatial estates from civilization for the peace and tranquility the country provides.

Port Skyrain is the newest city, population 2,500,000,000. It hovers 150 miles into the air over the western continent. The western continent is a rocky plain full of untapped mineral resources which miners drag from it's depths and transport to Port Skyrain. This is a very profitable endeavor in which the Hanelin Corporation has partnered with the King, Krahn Hanelin is the CEO and President of Hanelin Corp. and runs the city with the help of a Chancellor appointed by King Arkaran.

There's also 2,000,000,000 sentients scattered among the less populated lands of the planet, including a fledgling town of underwater squatters who mine the depths of the Krarian sea. Many Mon Calamari have sought refuge here and is a secret home to many rebels. The Empire does not have any knowledge of the town called Digarian.

Each city  is patrolled by the Dakkan (Doc-Kahn) guard, the policeman of the King. They are ruthless and well trained and completely loyal to their King. Even the Bounty Hunters and Smuggler's choose to avoid them. Because of the unique standing with the Empire and the Alliance, Tel'Thranan is a popular refuge and trading mecca for the entire Galaxy. The one place in the Galaxy not effected by war.

However, with the Corporate Sector so close, the Dakkan guard and the CSA do have occasional skirmishes. King Dane has kept the peace between the Corporate sector and his people, and trade between the Thranans and the Corporate Sector flourishes. Since the planet is so close to the Corporate Sector, there is a lot of Imperial traffic nearby.

The Culture...

Tel'Thranan women wear very revealing dresses. The dresses are usually in three fabrics, caval (a satin -like fabric native to the planet), lace and silk. All the dresses are see-through and 99.9 percent of all Tel'Thranan women will not wear underclothes. The dresses are very beautiful, worn in all colors, and even in all styles, but they are also very revealing. Tel'Thranan women think nothing of such clothing as they are usually brought up in such styles and not hindered by other planet's aversion to "skin." The dresses are not see-through at the crotch however, that is where the fabric is thicker.

Tel'Thranan culture is very open, enlightened, and very strict. Women are both honored and respected, but procreation is paramount to the culture. Procreation is so important to Thranan culture because for every boy born there are 4 girls born. The male  numbers is 21% of the current Thranan population, and so to overcome this-- every Thranan male must take no fewer than 4 wives (It is Thranan law and punishable by exile--obviously few men refuse this law. It has been over 400 years since a male has challenged the law.) Thranan females are fertile up until they are 110 years of age, 110 is middle age for a Thranan female. Thranans, on average live to be 220. It is not uncommon for one male Thranan to have upwards of 120 children, though this is not the norm. Average children per household is 27.

The reason this birth rate exists it is not known, many scientists have tried to overcome it but to no avail. The genes of Thranan people are hardwired for this birth rate and so they have figured out a way to keep their population healthy and growing through the marriage traditions of 4 to 5 wives.

Birth for a Thranan woman is completely painless and is pleasurable for her, as her body releases pleasure endorphines throughout her body and her muscles relax completely. In this way nature has found a way to combat the small number of male births, by making sure Thranan women have no aversion to having children.

Offworlder females, who are not in touch with their body would find it extremely uncomfortable to wear the standard dress of the culture. They are basically uncovered, bare before all. Tel'Thranan women think nothing of it, its all they've known and think the dresses are beautiful, the women are taught that their form is the essence of art and beauty and are appalled to cover it. Off-worlder females do not always share this "outlook" of their bodies. The fabric of the dresses are not difficult to wear and are rather comfortable and feel soft against the woman's skin. The dresses appear like the veil a bride would wear on her wedding day.

There is also a ritual conducted between a man and a woman, when one has wronged the other. To show their apology is true, the offender undresses before the other and recites the oath of baring the soul. It is known as the ritual of bearing the soul, as the Thranan people believe that the outer shell is the doorway to the soul and thereby being able to show an unclothed body allows a Thranan to come closer to another's soul.

Note: This page will evolve as the sim itself takes shape. This is a preliminary foundation for the world and as we sim, a history full of depth and fullness will emerge. Even the world will grow in it's history and tradition, just as any of your characters.  The planet itself will be a character in some respects.
