Physical Description:

Nichodemus, at first glance, is tall and lean. He is very muscular with a toned body from years of military training and workouts. He has shortly cropped black hair that never seems to grow out and doesn’t seem able to grow any kind of facial hair to save his soul. Has a few scars on his back that are visible when he takes his shirt off and a deep scar on his left thigh that can be seen when he’s wearing workout shorts. Has an intense stare that cowers all but the strongest willed of people when he focuses on someone.

Background (Homeworld):

According to myth and legend, the inhabitants of the Mobus System have been at war ever since the days of creation. No one knows for sure how Mobus was originally settled (or if some form of humans simply originated there to begin with for that matter), but the fact remains that of the ten planets, two asteroid belts, and countless moons in the Mobus System, it is probably the most active system in the galaxy in terms of military engagements. Approximately 100 or so Great Houses call the Mobus System home and each has a distinct claim on the so-called ‘Throne of the People’. Each of the Great Houses, named after the bloodline of the original founder many millennia ago, is based off of the old feudal system of Lords, Soldiers, Serfs, and Slaves. Originally, each of the Great Houses were on the home planet of Mobus 4, a giant planet that is 70% Water and 30% Land, but have each taken to the stars and colonized the other nine planets and multiple moons in the system, yet still retaining some kind of tie to the homeworld. Also, over the years, House allegiances were formed and battle lines were drawn. House Trenor, one of the more larger and influential of the Great Houses, is one of the few still fully ‘based’ off of Mobus 4.

The Mobus system is a constant firing ground as at least one House or another is at war at any given time. Occasionally, a ship from the central worlds of the galaxy wanders in, but they all either leave, or are captured and conscripted into a House Military. It is such a problem system that envoys from the Old Republic have stopped coming by and later the Empire simply ignores it as it would cost way too much in men and material to pacify the system. The only way that anyone from the central worlds knows what is going on is from the multiple House ships that make their way out of the Mobus System in order to barter for supplies, weapons, and technology.

Each Great House in the Mobus system maintains a large army, surface navy, and star fleet. Assets from all three are grouped into family fleets and operate as a single entity within the House. Members within any particular ‘family’ typically spend their entire lives in the service of one particular Lord or Noble within a Great House. This is typical of any Soldier, Serf or Slave that the Noble has control over (There is also a Prisoner Caste and Dark Caste, but both are rarely talked about. Prisoners are exiled to a penal moon and the Dark Caste members have fled into the untamed portions of Mobus 4, shunned from the more ‘civilized’ portion of society). Civilians (serfs) are usually traveling with the fleet in lightly armed HomeShips and usually the people onboard serve the military in administrative/clerical positions. Slaves within the Houses can be either Soldier or Civilian, depending on early childhood testing and birthright. Civilian Slaves are usually regulated to menial work such as janitorial and other ‘unpleasant’ duties. Soldier Slaves are given a standard military rank with the “-Slave” tag at the end. These Slaves are usually people who were sold to a House or were captured personnel from other Houses that have yet to prove their loyalty to their new Lord and Master.

Professional History and Background (Personal):

The Early Years:

Nichodemus has no recollection of his early childhood other than the rigorous work of a slave in the military. He has been told that his original birthparents had sold him into slavery with the House of Trenor in order to pay off a long standing debt that their family owed to the House in order to avoid being incarcerated (into the Prisoner Caste or worse, being exiled out of proper society) themselves. From the time that he could remember, he was working in the service of House Trenor. Nichodemus held the rank/position of Cadet-Slave until formal graduation into the House Military at the age of 13, in which he was granted Crewman-Slave Status. With the basic education out of the way, his specialized training began in the form of marine fighting and tactics. At the age of 16, he was granted Private-Slave status and given a position within the 256th House Marine Division serving within the House Trenor 1st Fleet. His natural aptitude for fighting and fast reflexes granted him the prestigious position of serving on Duke Thesus Trenor’s personal flagship as an offensive/defensive marine.

The Making of a Man:

As Nichodemus gained prestige within the ranks of the 256th, he also gained more privileges. One that he actually enjoyed having was the ability to go out on hunting excursions into the dense jungles on the untamed mainland of Mobus 4. It was when he was about 18 (at the rank of PFC-Slave) that he actually found a downed long-range shuttle that had been there for quite some time, at least a decade from his figuring. The bodies onboard had long since decomposed or had been eaten by the local wildlife, but the equipment remained. He salvaged what he could and returned to his ship. It was back in his quarters that he examined what he’d found; Old Republic equipment belonging to some kind of faction known as ‘Jedi’. None of this data really mattered to Nichodemus as much as the equipment. He nearly killed himself when he activated a strange rod for the first time when a pair of glowing green beams came out of both ends. Nichodemus kept the equipment that he liked and bartered the rest of it away. The lightsaber is the only thing that he retains to this day as it has become a very useful multi-tool for him.

It was also during this time that he’d become infatuated with a young woman on the Duke’s Flagship by the name of Sophia. The two started up a passionate relationship, keeping it on the sly as she didn’t want it to become public. Nichodemus could understand as any credible citizen of the House would usually never associate themselves in a friendly manner with a slave, let alone be an actual true lover with them. It wasn’t until later when he made the rank of Sergeant-Slave at the age of 20 and received an honor from Duke Thesus himself that he learned that he was sleeping with the Duke’s daughter! Sophia assured him that her father did not know of their liaison and that they could continue on, despite Nichodemus’ apprehension.

Rage and Passion Unleashed:

Two more years passed. Nichodemus, now age 22 and a much respected marine of the 256th, was off duty when a cruiser from rival House Rakshesh got brave and attacked the House Trenor Flagship. The crew from the Rakshesh cruiser got even braver (or desperate, in Nichodemus’ opinion) and actually boarded the flagship and went on a Noble-Hunting spree. Without even thinking of his duty to the House and Ship, Nichodemus did not report to the closest area to repel boarders, he went straight for Sophia’s quarters where he found a Rakshesh hovering over her, ready to kill. Nichodemus called out to Sophia in anguish and reach out for her, almost as if he could touch her one last time before she died. Miraculously, she seemed to ‘fly’ out of the way of the assassin’s sword to land safely on her bed. Nichodemus took advantage of the assassin’s puzzled look to draw out a weapon (he drew the lightsaber without thinking. Later, he’d be puzzled as to how the thing seemed to leap from his holster to his hand) and kill the man. After making sure that Sophia was safe, Nichodemus sealed her quarters and went on a Rakshesh-Hunting spree himself. When the whole thing was over, it was said that Nichodemus just seemed to appear out of nowhere, wielding a green light sword that just seemed to cut through anything and everything. His fellow marines, upon seeing this time and again during the battle eventually just stepped aside and let him go; content on just mopping up whatever he missed (which wasn’t much).

Duke Thesus was pleased to hear of the heroic actions of his personal marines, Nichodemus in particular for saving the life of his daughter. As Sophia’s bodyguard had been killed in the fighting trying to defend her, Thesus elevated Nichodemus to the position with the raise in rank to Ensign-Slave, a massive raise in rank. To have a member elevated from the ranks of the marines to the bodyguards brought much honor to the 256th. Nichodemus gained much prestige in the eyes of everyone on the Flagship. This position was one that Nichodemus accepted all to well as it now allowed him to spend even more time with the love of his life. Later on, when he had time to himself, he would try again to move object with his mind, but be unable to do so. He simply chalked it up to some form of divine intervention and left it at that.

That’s ‘Commander’ to you:

Nichodemus would serve as simply a bodyguard for a few years before being tasked for some offensive work. He would assist in some small time boarding actions before finally being handed a must-succeed mission: the recapture of any ship that had previously been owned by House Trenor. It was a mission that would require him to be away from the Flagship for quite some time as the trap was laid and they waited for a ship to come by. Nichodemus and his team spent a couple of long months in a cramped shuttle waiting for an opportunity before one finally flew by: the Eclipse, a YT-1300 Light Freighter that had been stolen out of dry-dock 28 years earlier. Nichodemus launched his plan: he had his pilot do a close flyby across the front of the ship as if making an interdiction stop while he and the rest of the team would leap across open space in environmental suits and board them. The plan was a resounding success as the marines went in through the starboard airlock within seconds and had the ship minutes later. Nichodemus himself stormed the cockpit and killed the Rakshesh Captain; Rissy Mendes. Once again, honor and prestige was bestowed on Nichodemus and his crew. This time, Nichodemus was promoted to Commander-Slave and given command of the Eclipse. He would also be able to resume his role as bodyguard to Sophia as the ownership of the Eclipse went to Sophia as it would now be her personal ship whenever she wanted it.

The Fall from Grace:

Disaster struck three years later. While flying a courier mission with Sophia as the messenger, House Rakshesh attacked in force. It became obvious that they wanted the ship intact and that they meant to board the ship. Nichodemus was not about to let that happen on his watch. With some brilliant flying into one of the star system’s asteroid belts, he managed to evade the initial pursuers but managed to be forced into a very well laid trap. As fate would have it, the Rakshesh Navy had a Plan B which involved the destruction of the ship should they be unable to capture it. Nichodemus was herded straight into the crosshairs of a couple of corvettes. The corvette pair scored a few brutal direct hits that crippled the ship. Thanks to the brilliant piloting of Nichodemus and the engineering feats of his surviving crew, the ship remained intact and was able to escape back to the Trenor Fleet.

Along with over half of his ten man crew, Sophia was killed when the corvettes had fired on them. Nichodemus did not find this out until after he limped the ship into the Flagship’s landing bay for a crash landing. Nichodemus, while being absolved of any wrongdoing in the matter, took the whole ordeal personally. He was told that it was a miracle that he managed to keep the ship together long enough to get back home. Nichodemus wouldn’t hear any of it and continued to blame himself, certain that Duke Thesus would have him killed for losing his daughter. Duke Thesus, while upset at the death of Sophia, consoled Nichodemus on the matter. He stated that he knew of the affair and was happy that Sophia had found happiness in the arms of Nichodemus. Thesus went on further to say that Nichodemus was the best kind of bodyguard for his daughter as Nichodemus loved her and therefore wouldn’t allow any harm to come to her. He didn’t blame Nichodemus for Sophia’s death, instead praising him for doing all that he could to save her.

Despite Thesus’ reassurances and honors, Nichodemus was never the same afterwards. While he was a bit cold and indifferent before, showing only slight emotion at times, he totally bottled up afterwards and dedicated himself to his work. As he was still Captain of the Eclipse, he took over the work detail to get the ship back up to running order. He was backed by a legion of mechanics and technicians, all wanting to help the Hero of the Fleet. The Eclipse was back up to full working order in record time. Duke Thesus noticed the change in the man and decided that he was past his prime for a marine; the death of Sophia just affecting him way too much. So Thesus decided to honor Nichodemus’ decades of hard work and honor the memory of his daughter by granting Nichodemus his freedom and ownership of the Eclipse.

Nichodemus’ first act was to hunt down the two corvettes that had shot him down. He left the Eclipse on the Trenor Flagship and opted for a small shuttle for this private mission. He managed to get close and board one of the corvettes, claiming to be an independent freelancer. After boarding he once again flew into a rage, killing anyone and everyone in his path with his lightsaber in one hand and a blaster in the other. After making his way to the bridge and killing the command crew, he programmed the ship to fly directly into a nearby moon and promptly left after destroying all of the controls. He then flew his shuttle to the other corvette, doing the same thing. Only difference is that this time he planted a few thermal detonators in the engineering section of the ship and blowing the whole thing up with the crew still on it. His job done, he returned back to the Trenor Flagship, retrieved his ship, and headed out of Mobus space, never to return.

Now:

Leaving Mobus Space has been a new experience for Nichodemus. He’s made quite the name for himself as a respected freelance trader/smuggler. He does not care about any of the politics going on between the Empire and the Rebellion as he never knew the history of either party. But he has made contacts on both sides and became respected as he can keep secrets. He never talks about his past with anyone and never lets anyone in on his personal life out of fear of becoming attached again. Now he is just content to make a living earning credits and exploring the galaxy, never once looking back on the life and love that he had.

Personality:

“Don’t worry, I hate everyone. It’s an equal-opportunity hatred.”

-Quote attributed to Nichodemus shortly before he killed a commander of one of the Rakshesh Corvettes that had trapped him.

Many times he comes off as cold and indifferent, but there are those rare moments where there is a glimmer of warmth underneath the surface. Nichodemus tends to be one of the ‘quiet ones’ in the back of a bar who will analyze the crowd for potential threats while the rest of his party is off having a good time. Very analytical and calculating. Is an excellent tactician when it comes to piloting and fighting on large and small scales. He is very straight forward with people, if you ask him what he thinks he will tell you precisely. Nichodemus is the type of person who can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Problem is, he just doesn’t care either way. If he does have friends, he keeps that to himself like a closely guarded state secret. Nichodemus is very trustworthy. If he tells you that he will not tell anyone something, you can take that to the bank and he will take it to his grave.

Watch out if he ever loses his temper (rare, but it happens), people have a tendency to die (if they happen to be in his way) when he lets loose with his raw emotions.

Ship Information:

The “Eclipse” is an YT-1300 stock light freighter that drifted into the Mobus System sometime around Year 50 BBY. House Trenor forces in the system found the ship derelict with no sign of the crew anywhere. The life pods were intact and there was no information to be garnered from the databanks. All indications led House Trenor to believe that the original crew had since abandoned the ship many years before. The ship was brought in under tow to a House dry-dock so that it could be repaired, refitted, and reused in the House fleet. Two years later, the ship was brought back up to specs with additional modifications as the House Trenor military saw fit. The original name that was found on the identification plate in the cockpit was kept as House Trenor is a superstitious lot and believes that ships should retain their original name, no matter what. The ship has been heavily modified over the years in its increasing role as a House Gunship.

At one point in time he challenged Han Solo in the Millennium Falcon for the title of ‘fastest ship’ but lost the race. Nichodemus maintains that it was still a close race and if he didn’t have the military armor plating on the Eclipse, he would’ve won. They have yet to do a rematch.

Known Owners/Captains of the Eclipse:

Pre 50 BBY: Unknown. From what data that was recovered, it is believed to be a smuggler by the name of Brev Bardak. It is believed that Bardak bought the ship off of the Corellian assembly line somewhere around 65 BBY.

55 BBY – 50 BBY: Years believed that the Eclipse was derelict.

50 BBY – 48 BBY: No Captain, ship was in dry-dock.

48 BBY – 42 BBY: Levi Trenor. Son of Thesus Trenor. Levi was the 4th Son of Thesus and received the Eclipse on turning 18. As a rite of passage, he was given command of the ship along with a crew of 6 to see how his ability to command would turn out. Levi served the Trenor Navy with distinction and moved on to command a Corvette in Year 42 BBY.

42 BBY – 35 BBY: Gaul Valentine. Best friend of Levi Trenor. Gaul served as first mate of the Eclipse from 45 to 42. When Levi ascended to command the Corvette Intrepid in 42, he gave the ship over to Gaul, wanting to keep the ship somewhat in the family. Gaul and a good portion of his crew were killed in a House skirmish in the Mobus System late in 35.

35 BBY – 33 BBY: No Captain, ship was in dry-dock.

33 BBY – 18 BBY: Gant Mendes. Member of the House of Rakshesh. In the mid to late part of 26, tensions between the Houses of Trenor and Rakshesh came to a boiling point to which the two Houses declared war on each other. Gant Mendes, a mere fighter pilot, led a daring raid on the Trenor Shipyards in orbit of Mobus 4. The raid crippled Trenor manufacturing and cost House Trenor multiple small ships, the Eclipse included. House Rakshesh recognized Mendes’ prowess and granted him the ownership of the Eclipse as a spoil of war and assigned a crew to him. Mendes became quite fond of the ship and refused promotion after promotion in order to keep personal command of the Eclipse and to keep her on the front lines as an affront to House Trenor. He is the longest captain to date at 15 years.

18 BBY – 12 BBY: Icarus Mendes. Son of Gant Mendes. Upon Gant’s honorable retirement, Icarus assumed command of the family ship at the age of 16 and kept command for six years before he was killed in action by a stray shot to the cockpit.

12 BBY – 5 BBY: Rissy Mendes. Niece to Gant Mendes. First (and thus far, only) female captain of the Eclipse. Rissy was granted a field promotion to Captain by the House Rakshesh military upon personally going out to space to retrieve her cousin after the battle that had killed him. She personally chose the rescue crew that would go out. It was this crew that would then be incorporated into her standing crew for the ship.

5 BBY – Present (4 ABY assumed): Nichodemus Rexian. Freed Commander-Slave of House Trenor. By this time, the Eclipse and other ships have become figureheads in the ongoing House Wars around Mobus. Such were seen as status symbols when one was stolen or captured from a rival house. Members of the House Trenor Military were enraged at the constant flaunting of the Eclipse during the supposed ‘Peace’ times to the point that action was then required. The next time that the Eclipse appeared around Mobus 4 was when a small strike team on a cramped shuttle hit the ship. The team, led by then Ensign-Slave Rexian, hit hard and fast, boarding the ship in a ballsy move that involved one person flying the shuttle across the Eclipse’s flight path while everyone else ‘jumped’ across open space in light environmental suits. The gambit paid off as the ship was boarded in a matter of seconds. Nichodemus himself took the cockpit where Rissy was trying to figure out what all was going on at once. He subsequently shot Rissy to death and took command of the ship, piloting it home. He remained in command of the ship as a member of the House Trenor Military until around 2 BBY in which he was granted freedom, and possession of the ship.

Nichodemus Rexian retains command and ownership of the ship to this day.

Equipment:

R2-M7 and R2-G5 (“Maroon” and “Goldie”, aka: The Terrible Twosome)

Personal toolkit on belt.

1 Speeder Bike with cargo carrier trailer in the hold of his ship.

Base of Operations:

Planet: None Currently

Ship: Light Transport “Eclipse”

Weapons:

3 BlasTech Industries DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistols (Weapon of Choice)

1 Double Bladed Lightsaber (Green) (In case of emergency...)

1 House Trenor Sword (on display in his quarters on the Eclipse)

Replacement Magazines for Blasters

Thermal Detonators

Frag Grenades

Form of Dress:

Typically in black trousers and shirts with black leather boots and gloves to match. This way he is comfortable at the same time of being ‘presentable’ to potential contacts at all times. Always has a black utility belt strapped around his waist that holds his tools, extra magazines, as well as a couple of thermal detonators and frag grenades, just in case. Has a holster strapped to his right thigh for his primary pistol (keeps the second one stashed in the cockpit of the Eclipse, and the third under his bunk in his quarters… just in case) which also serves to conceal his lightsaber as he’s starting to get the idea that Jedi, or anyone like the Jedi, are not well liked by those who favor the Empire. Also wears a black cloak in times of cold temperatures, but this is very rare as he tends to stick to warmer climates that are akin to his home planet.

Superhuman Powers or Augmentations to Body:

Might be force sensitive as Nichodemus possesses what appears to be extremely fast reflexes. It is not known if he is force telekinetic or not. Things have had a tendency to move the way he would like them to move during times of combat or while under extreme stress, but this is something that he has not been able to duplicate in normal conditions or on command. Nichodemus has no artificial augmentations on his body.

Abilities:

Is considered an expert in unarmed combat, martial arts, sword fighting, and shooting with various weapons. Nichodemus has managed to learn how to wield a lightsaber like a Jedi by incorporating multiple forms of known fighting styles. He now uses a lightsaber in place of his house sword (but only when things get really sticky). He can also speak multiple languages including Empire Standard, Wookie, Hutt and (is rumored) can understand Astromech. Is also a skilled repairman/mechanic as he is constantly working on the Eclipse in order to make her better and badder. This is also a skill that helps him keep the Terrible Twosome in working order so that they can keep the Eclipse flying. Is very skilled in computers and programming, another pair of abilities that serve him well.

Nichodemus is considered an expert pilot, having come in at a very close second in a race with Han Solo. He is also an expert in survival, escape and evasion, and stealthy reconnaissance work.

Although he will not admit it to anyone, he is very skilled in “special interrogation.” This is something that people typically do not want to know details about and this is another thing that he does not go around broadcasting. On the same note, he is very resistant to torture and interrogation as he views anything that the galaxy can dish out very minor in comparison to growing up as a slave in very harsh conditions.
