Physical Description:  Kara Dax is half Firrerreo and half Falleen, most likely one of the rarest cross-species in the galaxy. She is a near-human female with muted reptilian features and abilities due to her Falleen heritage -- but resembling baseline humans on the outside -- with nictitating membranes to protect her eyes (Firrerreo) and a small light-green spinal ridge on her back (Falleen).

Perhaps one of the most exotic woman that most men will ever see in their lifetime, Kara is somewhat tall and also strikingly beautiful due to her mixed nature. Brilliant, athletic, adept, charming and cunning ... with flawless skin (Firrerreo), a soft but somewhat bony structure (Falleen), a full head of Alderanian teal hair and sparkling blue eyes which are almost hypnotic in nature, and full lips to compliment the exotic package. Her excellent muscle tone and sensual, lanky curves are well appreciated by members of the opposite sex. Her eyes are oblique and widely spaced, with large blue irises that seeme to favor the upper lips. Her skin is the color of fruitwood. Although pretty to look at, the appendages on her arms don't serve any real purpose, they simply grew there as Kara reached puberty. They're pretty much a soft pliable cartilage that lies back curved, but in times of extreme distress (or erotic arousal) they can straighten out.

Professional History

Kara Dax was born on the planet Firrerre -- to a Firrerreo male and Falleen female couple -- a planet which would later be destroyyeeed by the Empire.  Growing up, she was strong in the ways of  the Force and joined the Jedi Order once she came of age to do so.  She raised quickly in the ranks and with regards to her skills, apprenticing to a great Jedi Master and soon becoming a Jedi Knight herself ...  but she was bold, headstrong, and above all she was curious ... curious in the ways of the Sith, and other such mysterious.  She was young and full of curiosity ... one would almost innocent.  She used her Master's holocron to discover secrets of the ancient Sith, who had all but vanished many millennia before; and Master Akema was not what one would call happy about this, but understood that his apprentice had a yearning for knowledge.

To the few pedants and scholars who even knew the name thought that the Sith were the "dark side" of the Jedi Knights.  This was, of course, far too simplistic an evaluation.  It was true that they had embraced the teachings of a group of rogue Jedi thousands of years ago, but they had taken that knowledge and philosophy far beyond the insular didacticism they had been given to start with.  It was easy and convenient, as well, to demarcate the concept of the Force into light and dark.   The reality of it, however, was that there was only the Force.  It was above such petty concepts as positive and negative, black and white, good and evil.  The only difference worthy of note was this: The Jedi saw the Force as an end to itself; the Sith knew that it was a means to an end.

And that end was power.

For all their humble posturing and protestations of abdication, the Jedi craved power as much as anyone.  Kara knew this to be true, from her apprenticeship with Siddious.  They claimed to be the servants of the people, but over the centuries they had increasingly removed themselves from contact with the very citizens they ostensibly served.  Now they prowled the cloistered hallways and chambers of their Temple, mouthing their empty ideologies while practicing hubristic machinations designed to bring them more secular power.

Needless to say, the Jedi Order suddenly wasn't the thing for Kara.  She had been trained in the ways of the Jedi ever since she was little, but the temptation to learn the ways of he Sith was too much for her as she grew older.

She needed more than the simple offerings and teaching of the Jedi, so she began to explore and experiment in the ways of the Sith, mostly in secrecy to her fellow peers. At first, Kara was merely curious, anxious to learn more about Jedi history.  This innocent curiosity soon turned into full-fledged obsession, however, and she was eventually found out by Master Akema.

When confronted, he had tried to reason with her.  He told her straight out; "Kara Dax, you are the most formidable student I have ever had ... but I sense something missing in you -- an empty place hidden even from yourself.  A place which remains unseen because no light escapes from that region of your heart."

Just a little more than a month later, Kara left her Master to pursue the Sith teachings of Freedon Nadd and Exar Kun ... only to fall into the hands of Darth Siddious.  Ever curious, she wanted to explore the ways of the Sith, but to fully do so would mean becoming one of them.  There were rules to follow, however, and guidelines that were kept to; there were also only two Sith at any given time, no more --  which meant that Darth Siddious' apprentice, Darth Maul, had to be 'dealt with' if Kara had any chance of joining the Dark Order.

In the months to follow, she followed the Dark Lord, studying him for several months, just waiting for the right time to strike.  And down on the little planet of Naboo, was the perfect opportunity to do so.  She waited, biding her time, and from the control room of Theed Palace, she was able to watch his every movement on the security cameras; she watched as he fought off the two Jedi with practical ease.  When the time came, when his guard was down and he was fighting the two of them inside the reactor core, she had the perfect opportunity to take him out.  He managed to fight them off though, even killed one of them -- the eldest of the two -- and the other was tired, he was nearly exhausted.  And when Maul had the little one in his grasp, when he was taunting him as the young Jedi held on for his very life down inside of the pit, Maul suddenly became cocky and confident that the battle was his -- and that's when she made her move.  When the boy used his powers to leap out of the hole, that's when Kara struck;  she reached out with the Force, sent a 'Force-suggestion' into Darth Maul's mind, and his guard fell momentarily ...  just enough time for the boy to strike him down, killing Maul.

And so as an apprentice of Darth Siddious and then Emperor Palpatine himself, Kara was able to learn the ways of the Sith easily and freely, without fear of being discovered.  She made Darth Maul look like a child in comparison, her new life seeming to follow that of Exar Kun's, as she was being trained by literally one of the best; an entire array of Force powers and abilities having been dormant and unknown to her before Siddious/Palpatine came along.  Preferring to keep his cloning facility a secret, the Emperor once even had Kara guard his Mount Tantiss complex on Wayland ... preferring to leave a single Dark Jedi behind instead of a squadron of AT-ST's to guard the facility.  Once the Emperor destroyed her homeworld though, things began to change.

About a decade before the Battle of Hoth, Darth Vader had established a biological weapons lab on Kara's planet, Falleen Prime.  An accident had let a tissue destroying bacterium escape, and Vader ordered the city burned to ashes.  200,000 Falleen, including Prince Xizor and Kara Dax's families, were burned alive in the fire.

At the time of the incident, Vader's actions had been excused, but now she was completely disgusted with the Empire and all they stood for.  Both of her worlds had been desroyed and her family taken from her.  For the first time in her life, she was lost and she didn't know what to do.  She had once been a powerful Jedi Knight, but she left that Order to join another, and would never be able to go back again.  And then as a Sith apprentice, a whole new world was opened to her ... but that world wasn't for her anymore.  The death, the destruction,  and the in-humanity was all but too much for her to handle.  But there was still the Jedi belief, the code she once swore to, and that would keep her going.  She wasn't going to continue on with the Sith, and she couldn't go back to being a Jedi, so she picked something in between.  She left Wayland days after learning of the genocide, taking with her a number of the valuable and precious Sith artifacts which she was supposed to guard, and struck out on her own -- leaving the Emperor's cloning facility unguarded.

Freed from her Imperial post, Kara turned into a mercenary-for-hire.  Along with her crew, she vowed to help the Alliance fight against the Empire.

Background

At one time a great Jedi Knight, and at another an evil Sith Apprentice, Kara has seen and lived on both sides of the coin -- only to later settle down somewhere in the middle. In a long and adventurous career numbering over a hundred years due to her mixed heritage (Falleen alone have long life spans, as do Firrerreo's because of their healing abilities) -- she has repeatedly risked her life to resolve great conflicts in fairness to both sides. She is sober and cool-minded but is also capable of dramatic actions in the face of danger. A consummate master of Jedi mind tricks as well ... although her greatest strength is in close quarter combat, where Kara's talented fighting abilities and skills are most effective. Honing her skills as a fighter throughout her life and trying not to depend too highly on her Force abilities, Kara Dax has crafted herself into a fine warrior, and with training from both sides of the Force, she is nearly unequaled in her abilities (by no means invulnerable or immortal, however).

Personality

As a person, she's not overly good or bad, although she does tend to lean more towards being good in nature.  She's nice, friendly, easily liked, pleasant to be around, and  just  as easy to get along with.  She is slow to swear loyalty to another, yet even more so to be swayed once  it is given ...  so ever-loyal to those who are close to her.  Proud, independent and stubborn, Kara just plows ahead, day after day.

The Serenity is the personally designed starship of Kara Dax, a unique vessel handcrafted by the Surronian Craftsguild. The ship is a mid sized transport, with a hull that is curved and appears to be somehow sculpted. It is a distinctly aerodynamic vessel and not too heavily armed, Alicia and company preferring to use stealth and cunning over brute force, but which packs a mean punch nonetheless ... balancing defensive capabilities with a high power-to-mass ratio, meaning that what it can't shoot down it can generally outrun. With a Corellian hyperdrive which gives the ship a Class 0.8 hyperdrive rating, -- just a tad slower than the Outrider -- Serenity can usually live up to this.

The ship is powered by a pair of Surronian A2.50-grade ion engines (later to be replaced with an XC-2 ion engine), with a sublight speed faster than that of an X-wing and only slightly slower than that of a TIE fighter. In an atmosphere, the Serenity can achieve a top speed of 1,150 kilometers per hour. Alicia also installed a set of four emergency braking jets within the wings and on more than one occasion has used them to slow the Serenity so rapidly that pursuing ships overtook it, thus providing an easy target for her weapons.

Completed six years ago, the ship was given to Alicia in thanks for services rendered to them long ago. The gleaming dark craft conveys its crew in matchless style to locations around the galaxy. Expressing a Naboo-like love of beauty, the dreamlike shape of the Serenity, together with its extraordinary black finish, make it a distinctive presence in any setting. Unlike Alicia's first starship, this version is the most deadliest craft she has flown yet. Able to appear and disappear with the ease of a shadow, it hides in its distinctive long prow a formidable full-effect cloaking device, a technological wonder that gives it invisibility of command.

For offense, the Serenity features a forward proton torpedo launcher, heavy ion cannons, and a concealed turret-mounted double laser cannon. The laser cannon can be handled from the turret’s gunnery position or controlled from the cockpit. The two wings are heavily armored and contain the ship's extremely powerful ion cannons. As a Jedi, Alicia often prefers to incapacitate her foes rather then kill them, so the Serenity was outfitted with a pair of high-grade ion cannons as its main armament; the power core and laser actuators have an advanced cooling system to allow the weapons extended usage, while the long wings of the craft were modified with experimental galven circuitry to more tightly focus the beams and increase their range. These cannons, powerful enough to penetrate any ship's hull (even through light shielding), pack more punch than either lasers or proton torpedoes can.

For defense, the Serenity carries an enhanced deflector shield system, one equal to any comparably-sized unit in use by Imperial forces. The ship's twin shield generator/projectors are housed atop the forward main hull. The shields can be angled and reinforced against enemy fire, making all deflector power available whether the Serenity is engaged in frontal attack or full retreat.

In design, the Serenity  conforms to true transport fashion; the "head" contains the cockpit as well as an emergency 4-person escape pod and the cockpit refresher. The main boarding ramp, crew quarters, a pair of standard docking rings (one on either side), and cloaking field generator are all located in the 'neck'. The rear of the ship holds the crew lounge, galley, droid holds, engineering systems, a two-level cargo bay, a gym, an extensive Jedi/Sith library, an armory, and guest quarters. Other areas include equipment bays, secondary escape pods, a secondary dorsal airlock with an extendable sleeve and docking clamps, power generators, holding cells, and various other starship necessities.

Boarding the ship is accomplished by either the forward or aft ramps, or even from the top side airlocks. When extended, the forward boarding ramp acts as the front landing gear, and the ship contains an equilibrium sensor suite that adjusts the rear landing legs to level the ship. For cargo, the Serenity is equipped with a large two-story cargo bay (sectioned off into compartments with variable life support, gravity, and atmosphere controls). Two speeder bikes are usually kept in the lower cargo bay along with various other specialized equipment. In certain instances, the upper cargo bay can be converted into a small launch bay for the Firestar, Alicia's personal starfighter. A large dorsal hatch on the Serenity opens to release the craft.

Form of Dress

Kara's normal garb usually consists of something which looks like little more than a simple utilitarian jacket worn over a bikini-style top and a pair of ultra-stylish pants below ... but which are interestingly enough anything but. The jacket is made out of densely woven shell spider silk -- a material capable of resisting even a vibroblade's thrust, as well as reflecting low-power particle beams and lasers. The subsequent bikini-style top which has a dragon-wing motif and the stylish pair of pants are both made out of an organic-like substance, presumed to be Elborean Alligursus leather. They've been polished to display the typically beautiful molted camouflage patterns required by the Alligursus vine snake as it makes it's way through the dark, sweaty bayou swamps on Wayland -- giving them a weird refractive quality to them. Given that the Alligursus is a large and very active creature in those hot steamy swampy bayous, the leather has remarkable insulative qualities as well, and heat doesn't penetrate it very well -- in either direction, allowing the fighter to remain cool in warm climates, and warm on chilly nights. Both make for surprisingly good armor ... nearly impossible to cut through with a knife or a sword, and incredibly difficult to burn through; it's armor that does not look like armor ... to the uninitiated.

The coiled, serpentine bracer on her left wrist was a gift from the Witches of Danthomir. The heavy stone necklace with the astronomical symbols on it was fit there at a young age when she entered her training at the Ithosan Jedi Academy. The fact that her head has since grown too big to fit back through it is a concrete demonstration of the lifelong commitment to the order, since the only way it can be removed from Karas's body is to first remove her head. Although she has since left the order, she still wears the necklace as a symbol of her Jedi ancestry. The starfish in her hair and the earrings on her ears and naval were obtained from the coral depths of Mon Calamari.

Abilities:

A skilled pilot, Kara is able to focus while traveling at extremely high speeds - at the controls of the finest spacecraft. She is easily liked, outgoing and very social, open about being a Jedi, but never truly opening up about her past as a Sith, and quick to make up for past deeds. She can hold her breath under water for several hours, an ability gained from her Falleen half, and is skilled in various forms of Martial Arts and unarmed combat.

Taught by her Jedi Master, an Iridonian Zabrak, and Darth Siddious, a Sith Lord, Kara has great mental discipline, which allows her to tolerate great physical suffering. During her time with her Jedi Master, Kara had soon learned to think of pain as her teacher. From fearing it, he had actually come to welcome, because she knew it would test her willpower and her courage; it would make her stronger.

Misc. Falleen Abilities: Even though Kara Dax is only half-Falleen, she does have a variety of other 'extra skills' open to her because of her semi-reptilian half. For one, she is able to breathe under water for a long period of time, approximately six hours or so. Her blood is also semi-cold... which means that it changes slightly with the ambient temperature around her, allowing Kara to survive in colder-than-normal weather.

Falleen Pheromones: Due to her Falleen half, Kara Dax possess the potent pheromone glands that convey conscious communication between other Falleen members, and which have a powerful and compulsive subconscious effect on humans and related species. In Kara's case, she cannot in any way bring her 'phermonal abilities' into full-blossom like a normal Falleen female, but her abilities would be equal to that of an average Falleen male, and even with her Force-powers, she can only subtly communicate with other Falleen members.

In essence, her enhanced hormones enable her to exude a pheromone that makes her practically irresistible to the opposite sex, something which humans and near-humans find entrancing -- so entrancing that the afflicted person will follow her for a short while or willbecome infatuated with her... inducing animalistic attraction and clouding their judgement among other things.
