Professional History: Most of Dak's history has been him smuggling and treasure hunting since he was about 16. He's gotten a pretty impressive reputation given his young age and skills.
Background:
Dak Starfury was born Jon Wendex on Alderaan. He was the son of a wealthy business man named Rondo Wendex for a small Alderaanian corporation, Wendex Interplanetary Transportation. He was still somewhat middle class with a love for old things, which were in abundance on Alderaan. During the battle of Yavin, Jon was away on a transport bound for Alderaan while his father was home for business. When the transport arrived at the debris field, Jon was nearly catatonic with despair. He fled and found himself on a YT-2000 named "Searcher." He wanted to find some way to help the rebellion, which he had heard there were force users. He began a search for force-connected artifacts. The first somewhat useful one he found was one perverted by the Dark Side. A small crystal called "The Mantle of the Mind." Being untrained in the force, upon grasping it his memory was erased in sections, including his past on Alderaan. He was a broken shell, without a name. The former owner of the ship, a long deceased Dak Starfury, had left a number of files and bits of information on his ship, a long time explorer himself. Jon Assumed the identity, no longer remembering his own and became the new Dak Starfury. Shortly afterward, he had the realization that artifact was the key to his old identity, and just before he picked it up again, having landed on the surface of the unnamed world he found it on, he was attacked by a Vangaurd of TIE fighters and a battalion of stormtroopers. The mantle fell into a deep crevice and exploded. He barely escaped the encounter.
He has since collected many force artifacts and other small pieces of history, and traveled the Galaxy over since the destruction of his homeworld. A homeworld he doesn't remember.
In his study of the artifact following the initial encounter, Dak discovered that there were 3. All perverted by the Dark Side. They were originally created to allow for the safe recovery of suppressed memories. Some of the Jedi that created them fell from the light and used them for mind control, and the reprogramming of minds. They were thought lost, until the final 3 were found and accidentally scattered. He found the second one, but it was damaged and eventually destroyed. While he searches for the third, Dak has made a living smuggling and treasure hunting.
Personality: He's pretty much snide, adventurous, and a risk taker. Generally good hearted, but obsessive. He is romantically naive, and could probably be easily manipulated if he was so terribly paranoid. Constantly looking over his shoulder, never totally trusting anyone. Also generally a coward.
He is also not very fond of wookies, Given his severe allergy to wookie hair and dander.
Vehicle of Choice: A customized YT-2000 named "Searcher". The Searcher's turrets have old combat droids permanently grafted into them. Also has an old "Swoop" Speeder bike in the Searcher's hold.
The Searcher has heavily modified sensors designed to sweep debris fields and planetary surfaces for even the tiniest abnormal object. The shields are slightly more strong than standard, but not by much. Other than the standard Blaster turrets and the 2 bow mounted cannons, there is a custom mounded gimbaled blaster cannon on the dorsal section near the dorsal turret. The Hyperdrive is a newer model, capable of x1.3 for normal cruise, and x2 in emergency situations. When run at the higher speed, it has a tendency to fail and leave him drifting in space for a short time from the disabling effect it has on all the main systems.
The Maneuvering thrusters on the Searcher are heavily modified and some would say overpowered. As a result, in the right hands, the Searcher can be flown like a high performance fighter despite it's large size. Modern Fighters like TIEs and X-Wings can still outturn the Searcher, but They are outmatched in firepower, Durability, and Often times the Pilot.
Base Of Operations: While he occasionally camps out on a number of worlds, the Searcher IS his base of operations. All of his archaeological equipment and most prized artifacts are safely aboard. As of now, he finds himself based on Tel'Thranan.
Weapons: Dual DL-44s, and what appears to be a very old blaster rifle. Still functional, but very old. A working piece of his collection. (Think one of the blaster rifles from like....KOTOR or something, hell I dunno.)
Form of Dress: Usually black pants with a red stripe on the sides of the legs, a beige shirt, white vest and a long trench coat. These are usually covered in dust due to his treasure hunting.
Superhuman Powers or Augmentations to Body: None, but he carries a few force artifacts that augment a few of his natural abilities, but also give him a slight distortion and warping of his force presence.
Abilities: Slightly force sensitive, with an natural affinity for a sort of "Force Sight" which allows him to find his favorite things. Artifacts with a connection to the force. An expert, ye haphazard and insane pilot, a lot of skill with mechanical disciplines, primarily droids.
