Physical Description:
1.76 meters tall and 60.9 kilograms in weight, Adera has ice blue eyes and blonde hair which she typically keeps short for practicalities sake. Being in the Imperial Royal Guard, Adera has a strict daily workout regime designed to keep her in peak physical condition and she consequently has a very athletic physique. Having lost her right hand during a training exercise on Yinchorr, she has a cybernetic replacement hand which allows her greater gripping and crushing strength in that hand. As a result of the initial loss, she has become extremely good at using her organic left hand whereas she was previously right-handed.
Professional History:
Adera has been serving in the Royal Imperial Guard for the past seven years, only occasionally being placed on detached-duty to perform a political assassination for the Emperor. Despite the fact that she has always been in the general vicinity of the Emperor for the past seven years, she is known to no-one except the Emperor and the other Guardsmen, since she is always dressed in the gender-neutral red Imperial Guard uniform while on-duty. She has recently been placed on detached-duty and sent to Tel’Thranan with orders to integrate herself into the population and weed-out any Rebel sympathizers she finds.
Background:
Born in the lower slums of Coruscant, Adera's birth was a mistake – an accidental pregnancy resulting from the careless behavior of her would-be parents. Her mother, a waitress employed by a sleazy bar owner, and her father who was a General in the Imperial Army, met while he was on shore-leave on Coruscant. The two dated for a brief
period before carelessly engaging in sexual activity, of which Adera was the result. A complete accident on their behalf and almost entirely unwanted, she was kept alive as a developing fetus only because her father felt responsible for her conception (which naturally he was).
The birth took place in a public hospital less than two city blocks away from where her mother and father had first met. Despite advanced medical technology, complications during the labor pursued and Marianne Windsor died giving birth to her illegitimate child. Given the option of either having the child put-down or claiming it as his own by the hospital's administrators, Richard signed the birth-certificate and hence became her legitimate father. Unsure as to what to do with a daughter but no mother to raise her, Richard took baby Adera with him when he returned to duty three months later.
Unknown to Adera's mother, Richard was more than merely a General in the Imperial Navy. He was, in fact, an instructor at the Royal Imperial Guard Academy and a former Imperial Guardsman himself. Surprisingly, his proposal to have his infant daughter stay with him on the harsh training planet of Yinchorr was quickly approved by the master instructor, Master Kennede. What Richard didn't know is that Kennede approved his proposal purely because he saw it as some kind of twisted experiment: how a female child would survive upbringing on a planet where heartless men were trained to kill without thought.
Adera's life up until the age of twelve consisted of time spent mostly with a nanny-droid. Her father, spending most of his time training potential Royal Guard candidates, chose not to allow her access to anywhere but his personal quarter complex. However, when she started developing an interest in the Imperial Army (like all young girls who want to be 'just like their daddy'), he began to take a more active role in her upbringing. Parallel to her normal education, her father taught her military tactics, hand-to-hand combat and military protocol in private. By the time she was 17, her father was proud and confident in saying that she could easily pass Stormtrooper training.
Although his opinion was biased, it wasn't far from the truth. Adera had spent her entire 17-year life alone within the confines of her father's personal quarter complex on the harsh world of Yinchorr. She had no other friends, no mother, and her only contact was with her father and a nanny-droid along with the occasional visit by master instructor Kennede. More than 6 years of spending all of her free time studying the Imperial Army had made her more knowledgeable about it than most third-year cadets in the Stormtrooper Academy.
Unfortunately, shortly after her 17th birthday, her life changed drastically. Her father, now in his late 50's, died suddenly of a heart attack in his sleep. With no other relatives and having never been anywhere in her life other than Yinchorr, Adera was terrified as to what her fate might be. Shortly after her father's burial, she was approached by Master Kennede, who offered her a chance to stay on Yinchorr and, even more importantly, actually participate as a candidate for Royal Guardsmenship. While the thought of competing in training against men who had been selected throughout the Imperial military as the best of the best should have terrified her, Adera agreed, believing that she would do her father proud.
Effective immediately, Adera became the first-ever female Royal Guard candidate. Being only 17 and a woman, she was ridiculed, brutalized and raped repeatedly over the course of the year by the other candidates – something that master Kennede did nothing to stop. Nonetheless, Adera continued with the training and to the surprise of the other candidates (and indeed Kennede, who had fully expected her to be killed during one of the combat exercises) she entered the final exam - combat against another candidate in front of the Emperor himself, to the death.
Upon the Emperor's arrival, he was visibly surprised by the presence of a woman taking part in the training. Naturally, he had been fully aware that a girl had been staying on the campus while her father tutored the candidates but hadn't expected her to actually participate in the training. After meeting with Master Kennede who explained her impressive performance to him, Palpatine allowed her to take the final test, despite the fact that she was a woman and that she had never actually served in a branch of the Imperial military (unlike all the other candidates).
After an intense battle with a fellow candidate, Adera emerged victorious – having disemboweled her opponent without a second thought. Along with 8 other victorious candidates (out of the original 40 who had been selected for candidacy at the start of the year), Adera was bestowed the honor of the Royal Imperial Guard, becoming the first female in Imperial history to complete the training. Impressed by the pure determination of the woman, Palpatine ordered her assigned to his personal guard and she was transported off Yinchorr for the first time in her life since she had arrived there during infancy.
Unlike other Royal Guards who were rotated between guard-duty and training with a normal Stormtrooper unit, Adera was kept on guard-duty until for the next seven years, only occasionally being placed on detached-duty to perform a political assassination for the Emperor. Despite the fact that she has always been in the general vicinity of the Emperor for the past seven years, she is known to no-one except the Emperor and the other Guardsmen, since she is always dressed in the gender-neutral red Imperial Guard uniform while on-duty.
Adera has since been placed on detached-duty and sent to the planet of Tel’Thranan with orders to integrate herself into the population and weed-out any Rebel sympathizers she finds. Unbeknown to her, she isn’t the only person whom the Emperor has sent to Tel’Thranan, due to his frustration over the Empire’s inability to gain stricter control over the planet. Until Imperial Intelligence can one day find a way to detect and disable Tel’Thranan’s planetary shielding, Adera will continue to quietly eliminate Rebel sympathizers in the region, or until she is recalled again for guard-duty.
Personality:
Having never known her mother, never having friends and after her brutal treatment at the hands of various royal guard candidates, Adera is as emotionless as women come. She is cold, methodical and calculating. Efficiency and timing are what she considers of paramount importance, and anyone who approaches her in hopes of striking up a friendly conversation is in for a shock. On a bad day one might even think that she were evil, although in reality, cruel and uncaring is a more accurate description.
Adera’s sense of humor is dark by anybody's standard and she can be very sarcastic and condescending. In public, she gives off the appearance of confidence, precision and efficiency. Perhaps her biggest flaw is her inability to relate to the emotions of others – if you're looking for sympathy, she is the last person who you should approach. Having been exposed to Imperial education her entire life, particularly the strict loyalty conditioning received during Royal Guard training, she is unquestioningly loyal to the Emperor and his cause.
Vehicle Of Choice:
Using the money she inherited from her father, Adera bought a YT-1300 light-freighter (the ‘Equilibrium’) which she uses for travel while on shore-leave. She has since made several upgrades to the defense and propulsion systems, and the ship now boasts ventrally mounted hatch-concealed antipersonnel repeating lasers, as well as a set of advanced Nordoxicon shield generators that provide the Equilibrium with warship-grade shielding.
Adera has also modified the ship so that most of its major systems can be accessed through the cockpit, allowing her to operate it by herself. The countless number of ship control functions are funneled through what was once a Hanx-Wargel SuperFlow IV computer. It has since been modified with three droid brains, which is why the Equilibrium has schizophrenic arguments with Adera's R2 droid, 'Blip'. Blip himself has had several modifications made, primarily a voice-synthesizer that allows him to talk in Standard rather than in electronics beeps.
Unlike the famous 'Millennium Falcon', the Equilibrium does not have turbolasers nor concussion missiles, and hence relies on its augmented sublight -and hyperspace- speed to get it out of dogfight situations. When off her ship, Adera leaves her astromech droid (whom sits plugged into the cockpit) in-charge so that she can summon him over a communicator if needed. Thanks to the massive amount of automation done to the ship, the R2 unit can pilot it to her location, dodging obstacles and even firing the hidden antipersonnel repeating lasers if necessary.
Base Of Operations:
While on detached-duty, Adera lives onboard the Equilibrium.
Weapons:
While on guard-duty, Adera carries a Force Pike and is extremely deadly and efficient with it. During detached-duty however, a Force Pike is hardly discrete and she has consequently mastered the use of the sai, combat knives and hand-blasters. Given a choice though, she prefers to disarm dangerous situations by hand, and has consequently mastered Isshinryu (an unarmed, close-range combat system) and Silat (a combat system focusing on nerve destruction).
Form Of Dress:
While on detached-duty, Adera’s choice of clothing is typically a sports-top and short dress – attire that doesn’t restrict her movement should she suddenly have to engage in unarmed combat at any point in time.
Augmentations to Body:
The only thing that Adera has that comes close to be an augmentation is a cybernetic replacement hand, having lost her right hand during a training exercise on Yinchorr. This cybernetic hand allows her greater gripping and crushing strength, which has proven useful in the past when attempting to crush a person’s windpipe. Other than that, Adera is completely organic.
Abilities:
Having undergone Royal Guard training on Yinchorr, Adera has joined the Empire’s elite of the elite and has consequently been trained by some of the best combat instructors in the Empire. She is a master of Isshinryu (an unarmed close-range combat system) and Silat (a combat system focusing on nerve destruction). Like all those in the Royal Guard she has been trained to shroud her thoughts from telepathic and Force-sensitive individuals, although this ability itself is nothing more than a form of mental discipline and not a Force skill. Adera is not Force sensitive and, although trained in the use of lightsabers, no amount of training could ever change this.
